I Sped Up Moose and Squirrel So I Could Delve Into A Regimen

Moose And Squirrel 2016. Acrylic on canvas, 24 x 18″

I want to enter the painting above in a local juried exhibition. I tried to paint a subject that wouldn’t “identify” me to the juror, who happens to be a close friend. I need to avoid a conflict of interest burden, so will enter under a pseudonym, and see if I can get into the show on merit instead of the usual glowing personality.

I was impatient to finish. I have been eager to apply a time technique to portraiture that I was invited to practice on Monday with Moscow painters. Paint a model in two 45 minute sittings, with a fifteen minute break in between. I will do this with self-portrait for the next 7 to 10 days to see if I can improve on skills. Today’s attempt is Neanderthal with a dash of angry Bruce Willis. Maybe I have a mouthful of celery and sand. Hard to say.
